ANOTHER TROPHY ON MY SHELF

Last night's meeting at the Dunedin Writer's Workshop was very memorable. Firstly, it was the first time at our new venue and secondly, I won first place in our latest short story competition.

The rooms where we now meet are modern and purpose built for community groups, so we were toasty warm and very comfortable. We have a large whiteboard in the room and access to a data projector if needed, which will aid the delivery of our writing workshops.

For any Dunedin writers looking for a group to attend, email me at dunedinwriters.workshop@gmail.com for details, or visit our FB page: Dunedin Writers Workshop.

My story: "All For Gold", was based on real life outlaw Henry Garrett. You can read about his exploits, including the event in my story, at a post I wrote last year. You can read it here.

The only photo I could find of Henry Beresford Garrett.

  3. I'm just leaving you a comment to let you know I am going to read the story. I've had a lot to do with this A-Z and just haven't had the time. I don't want to skim your story, I want to actually let it sink in. I'll try to read it this afternoon.

  4. Well done, Sue! I really enjoyed your story and your writing style. The ending was perfect!

(How did you get your margins to work like that? I just posted my 2nd short story on Blogspot's Pages for that reason. I couldn't work it out on Wordpress.)

    1. Thanks Joanne. Yes, the ending was amazing and it really happened like that! Ben and his brother were the only made up characters.
As to the margins, I just cut and pasted and increased the font size so the lines weren't too long.
I read your story earlier - superb. I'm heading back to your blog shortly to comment. I got interrupted by a trip to the library!

  5. I tried to do that with Wordpress, but everything just wants to align itself against the margin, including Pages! But now, I know.
    Thanks for reading my story!

    1. Sometimes computers are more trouble than they're worth. I just can't get my head around them when they prove difficult like that!
So you use Pages. I really like it, suits me really well.
