WHAT HAVE I BEEN UP TO?

I'm not blogging much this year as I'm trying to cut back on my internet usage and free up some much needed time to concentrate on my writing and other things. And it's working!

So what have been doing with the 'extra' hours?

I'm reading a lot more. Not just novels, but I've been catching up on some non-fiction history books too. All good research for the writing.

Here's a few books I particularly enjoyed:

The Things We Cherished by Pam Jenoff

The Mischief of the Mistletoe by Lauren Willig

Shadows on the Nile by Kate Furnivall

The Unexpected Miss Bennett by Patrice Sarath

I've also just finished reading Alison Stuart's latest release - Secrets of Time. It's a shorter novel of about 40000 words and involves time travel between the time of the English Civil War and 1995. It's light hearted and romantic and fun to read. You can find links to buy it and her other novels (all good reads) here on her Facebook page. She also has a great competition going at the moment too.

I've also been doing some sewing. Here's my latest creation:

This morning I visited our local Spotlight store and brought home a few pieces of interesting fabric. That will keep me busy for a few more weeks!

  1. All worthy pursuits - sounds idyllic. Good on you - very wise to spend time you won't get back in worthwhile ways. Love the box-cover. Clever girl. The button is a genius finishing touch.

  4. Good for you! I really need to cut back on my Internet time, too. I am on it all day at work and there's no reason for me to be on it at home. So you are my inspiration! :) Lovely tissue holder, too! I wish I could sew. I'm pretty hopeless at it.

    1. Cutting back on the internet definitely frees up time.
Having a good machine helps with the sewing. No doubt you are really good at something I'm hopeless at. :)

  5. I just bought a sewing machine. Haven't used it yet but I am excited to. I want to create a few skirts and dresses. Love your tissue box holder. After A-Z I want to take more time off the internet and focus on my writing. It really should be a priority.

  6. Hi, the sewing project looks great, as others have commented - button = genius.

I enjoy reading your book reviews, but I'm wondering if you would consider reviewing craft books too?

    1. Glad you like my project! As to reviewing craft books - could be hard as I don't read that many. I tend to make things up as I go along.
